Thread: Can the iPhone still join ad-hoc networks? Why can't I tether anymore?

Default Can the iPhone still join ad-hoc networks? Why can't I tether anymore?
Since I updated to 1.1.2, I can't remember a single time I was able to join an ad-hoc wifi network. I'm on 1.1.4 now and it doesn't work even worse now than it didn't work before.

I'm trying to "tether," of course. I create the ad-hoc network on my MBP, use no encryption and then try to join it with the iPhone. It immediately says it was unable to join the network (under 1.1.2 it waited a few seconds). Doing an ifconfig reveals that the interface remains unconfigures after trying to join in Settings.

Anyone know what's going on here?

Bumping this in the hope that someone knows what's going on.
