    Default App Data Clean Up
Wondering if anyone knows a good way to go in and clean up an iphone I am pretty much at capacity on it and looking for ways to clean it up.

    Any suggestions would be great.

Already cut my music back and backed up all my pics and got rid of them!

Do you use Winterboard for theming?

Also, clean out your SMS attachments. That's a hidden memory hog!

Any unused themes you need to uninstall and any of the extra stuff that WB installs (by default) that you don't use, you need to delete.

If you have iCleaner, you need to run that to purge your device of extra crap that builds up over time. In iCleaner, there's also an option to clean out SMS attachments.

Other options are removing languages and keyboards that aren't being used on your device.

And did you clean out your SMS Attachments?

I used the icleaner pro and turned on smart sms. Is that the correct way? Should I do something else? I did go from no space to just over a gig. Any other suggestions???

    Check this out:

First off we will start with the basic things.
Delete the cache, history, and cookies on any browser you have on the phone.
Removing apps that you don't use or play anymore will also help. I believe game saves and settings in the apps also counts as other, but I could be wrong.
Delete any trash or junk email. Sometimes it can build up, usually the iphone will delete it after a certain amount of days, but its always good to double check.
Delete any tweaks or themes you don't use anymore in Cydia.
Plug your iPhone into iTunes and uncheck open iTunes when iPhone is connected. This presumably makes iTunes double check your "other" data.

Now onto the more complicated stuff, you will need ifile, winscp, or anything like these to access the iPhones internal files. I will guide you through ifile since its what I used. I recommend holding "Power" and "Home" until your device turns off and turning it back on after everytime you delete something. Keep in mind that ifile by standard doesn't delete anything, when you click edit a trash can will show up on the bottom and you can empty the trash that way.
Delete anything in the following folders (unless noted otherwise):
    var/mobile/media/applicationarchives
    var/mobile/media/downloads
    var/spool/mdt
    var/mobile/ifile/trash
var/mobile/library/logs look for a file called ilocalis.log, if its there delete it
var/mobile/library/application/support/containers/ Look if there is anything big in there. (the blue button on the right will tell you how big the folder is among other information)

Okay now onto the next part: we can try to locate just one giant file that could be taking up all of your memory.
You'll need to download terminal from cydia.
    Open terminal after it downloads.
    type su and hit return
The password by default is: alpine the password will not show while typing it, again hit return
Now type find . -size +100M Make sure that M is capitalized
Notices the spaces find (space) . (space) -size (space) +100M CAPITALIZE THE M
This will now list anything with anything over 100MB. It will also list where the file can be found via ifile or winscp.
At this point I can't really help you out, its your choice on what to delete and what not to delete.

    Now onto the last resorts.
Launch iTunes and remove all of your music, make sure you have an purchased music transferred to the computer, hopefully you don't have any music that is on your iphone that isn't on your computer.
    Go into ifile.
Tap the "Gear" icon and tap "Hidden Files" to turn it on.
Tap "Done," then tap the "Back" navigation button to go all the way back to the root folder.
    Var/Mobile/Media/iTunes Control/Music
You should see a bunch of folders that begin with an "F."
    Delete them all.
Hold "Home" and "Power" simultaneously to restart the device.

    The other last resort
Var/Mobile/Cache I deleted this entire folder. It deletes all of your apps and all of your settings.

And at the end of the day, if nothing works, than, restore. setup as new, jailbreak with Pangu 1.1 and manually return all your apps and tweaks....hard work, but 100 % success

Well done, bbrks!!! You even quoted one of my old threads, nice!

That right there sums up almost everything! I still think SMS Attachments needs to be part of that list and then it'd be complete!!!

Yup, I knew it was yours, I was asking myself, why didn't you bring it to life again especially in this situation...

LOL! I was going to but wanted to see how many Gigs of memory his/her SMS was taking up, first. I think I'm gonna update that thread w/ your info if you're cool w/ that! Obviously, you'll get credit for that portion!

ok so I deleted all those file and tried to resync my music and it seems that my music didn't sync back up. I have a bunch of space now but no music. Last I checked it showed it on there in iTunes but didn't transfer over. Wondering if I just start over now?

Does your music still show up in the memory used section on iTunes? If so, go to the 'On this Device' tab and see if you can see the music through there. If you can, delete it and resync

I will have to look tonight and see. I was having similar issue with my ipad where a big chunk was taking up with videos and there were only like 2 on it. Might just restore and re jailbreak!
