Unhappy Push Doctor + SAM = Push Notifications not working!
    Hi. I have an iPhone 3G 3.1.3

I restored it w/ an unactivated AT&T SIM card inside, Exit recovery mode in TU.
    JB'd w/ redsn0w 0.9.4, turned off 3G and then unlocked with ultrasn0w.
    >REBOOTED.
Took out att sim and inserted tmobile sim and then i powered on iPhone.
Toggled Airplane Mode so It could search for my carrier.
    I added Push Doctor.
    >REBOOTED.
Downloaded iPusher in App Store to test it but It just says Please wait... no pop-up message comes up.
Tried IMing my aim account , didn't come up ):<
Tried Turning Notifications OFF and then ON. No luck!

Help! Am I doing something wrong? Any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I also had the same troubles as you. We also have the same phone and J.B. I don't have constant internet, that is the problem. I get push when i turn airplane mode on then wait 10 seconds or so then turn airplane mode off and wham! I have push. As soon as the phone goes to sleep wifi goes off and you loose your "ping" for push. If you had constant internet access aka. data plan. That would serve as your back up when you loose wifi. I tried an app called Insomnia which worked to keep wifi on while phone asleep but, wrecked my battery life as well. Until you get a data plan, push will never be consistent. Hope this helps.

Edit. Download "push checker" from cydia. it will tell you if you have unique certs. SAM works..it will give you unique certs. the only other way if your ATT sim won't work is to get the paid version of push fix.

If you have an authorized SIM, Push Doctor or SAM are not necessary.

My process. The phone is connected w/iTunes open the entire time.
    Restore w/authorized (inactive) SIM inserted.
Phone starts, activates. Set-up as new phone or ignore iTunes. No sync yet.
WiFi connect. Install Ultrasn0w, reboot. Install T-Mo SIM, turn off 3G, reboot - maybe twice.
After a few minutes, network service and phone displays activated message.
Install iPusher via App Store and test. iPusher may fail. Wait a min or two.
Reboot again, install another Push app (Push Checker via Cydia).
    Push works for all.

Personally, I believe power-cycling is a good thing and the key to my success.

    Good luck @katastrophic.
    We're the same (I hope ) T-Mo + old AT&T SIM == no push issues

    Haha thanks ^_^
Should I install Push Doctor or SAM?

Edit: I think the problem was that when i was doing the whole process last time, I didn't have my iTunes opened all the time. So I will try that xD

No. If you old SIM is authorized .... nothing else is needed to make Push work.

    what i did:

(my phone is connected w/iTunes open the entire time but when i come to choose 3.1.2 ipsw. it closes iTunes when i am going to jailbreak it)
    i restored w/ AT&T SIM inserted.
Phone starts, activates to home screen.
    jailbreak, exit recovery TU.
WiFi connect. installed cydia updates. Install Ultrasn0w, reboot. Install T-Mo SIM, turn off 3G, rebooted x2
After a few minutes, network service and phone displays activated message.
I install iPusher via App Store and test. iPusher failed.. It just says Please wait... It has been 9 minutes yet nothing is happening l: Does it take this long? So now i am going to reboot my iphone and gonna install push checker..

Edit: It says No push token found. Your push notifications are not working in Push Checker o__o .......

Hmmm. That's a new one to me.
Once Push is working, it shouldn't matter which SIM is installed.

I dont know, but it's weird ): I have tried everything and yet I haven't fixed it yet.. I fixed it ONCE before when I used SAM but then It stopped working so I had to start over.

    Do these exact steps:

    1) Open iTunes, shift+restore to 3.1.3 w/ SIM out
    2) When receiving error 1015, use TU to exit recovery
    3) On the emergency call screen, insert AT&T SIM and open iTunes
    4) iTunes will activate. Avoid restoring from backup right now.
    5) When on Springboard, leave AT&T SIM in.
    6) Open Redsn0w 0.9.4, select 3.1.2 ipsw, continue with instructions to JB.
    7) When finished, install Ultrasn0w, insert T-Mobile SIM, and test Push.

On step #4, should I set it up as a new iPhone? Or just ignore and close iTunes and continue to JB it.
    thanks! (:

Update to my issue, I am having the same issue as you. In my first post i detailed the main cause of Push turning itself off. I now can confirm that constant internet is necessary. I just switched my Tmobile plan to have data. Now, my Push is always working even, after phone goes to sleep. I got the $30 prepay plan (1500 min. and text, 30 mb data) just to confirm my thoughts.
