can i delete these 2 files.
You can, but it's not necessary. Both have a '#' symbol in the 1st position, so they are not used.
Also, don't delete anything except lines containing gs.apple.com.

What are the 1st 5 digits of your serial #?

    The 3rd digit is the year: 9 = 1999, 0 = 2000.
The 4th and 5th digit is the week number (01 thru 52)
Any number greater xx945 (xx001 is greater) is new bootrom.
Less than xx940 is old bootrom.

Between xx940 and xx945 results vary.

F0recast (on ih8sn0w) also shows the bootrom

A blank screen can be off or DFU mode.

Is the device already off (part of the prior instructions (step # 4) before this step) ???

    If yes, continue ...

no my device is in DFU mode ..how to turnoff the device?

i have done this step(got the sound)
Connect the iPhone, wait a min or so, then hold power + home buttons for 6-8 sec
..... this is a forced power off. Listen for a computer high-low sound

    Now I'm confused again.

If you complete step #4 successfully, the device is off.
Why do you think it's in DFU mode???

    OK. You're fine. Continue.

Actually, you're in 'pwnd-DFU' mode. It's a bit confusing, but important.

On second thought ..... I'm still not sure its ok.
If the device is off, you can not get into pwnd-dfu mode without pressing buttons.

Good luck. If it fails ..... step #4 is the problem.
We'll need to get that working correctly.

After you get the invalid sim message, continue with the next step and jailbreak.
