    Default Re-Jailbreaking Simple Questions... HELP!
Today I installed LOCKDOWN from cydia and the crappy app messed up up my iphone, i can't press anything! it just hangs after springboard...

1st. Can I somehow uninstall it via WINSCP ? If so how?

2nd. Since I am already jailbroken, 3G 3.1.2 8gb, how do I re-jailbreak? Is it simpler since I am already jailbroken or are all the normal jailbreak steps still required?

    Cheers!

    ---------- EDIT ----------

Do I have to use the redsnow to rejailbreak or itunes (shift-restore)? dfu?

I have a custom IPSW file already

You should make a new 4.1 custom firmware with mutlti-tasking etc enabled in redsn0w or sn0wbreeze and then restore to it.

Could also enable backgrounds as well.

Since you have the custom ipsw already, just shift+restore to it. That's all you need to do to restore and jb.

As a warning, don't restore from back up, it'll probably just carry the problem over again.

I thought you said you have the custom fw already?

If you don't you can make one with Sn0wbreeze.

I had custom firmware for 3.1.2, not 4.1....

I have a $10 unlimited non-iphone data package, and i am worried about losing it if i switch to another OS...

I have Custom APN, Custom IPCC File and 3.1.2 FW.

    your thoughts?

You won't lose ability to use your data plan if you go to iOS 4.x. Just enter your APN manually or go to unlockit.co.nz to install an APN.

Make a custom 4.1 fw with sn0wbreeze and shift+restore to it to restore and jb.

I dont really know how ipcc files work so...all I know is your data plan will work if you enter the APN or install an APN via the site I listed.

So can i downgrade back from 4.1 to 3.1.2 if it doesn't work out for me?
would it be the same process (shift-restore on itunes / select custom 3.1.2 fw file) ?

On a 3G phone, yes you can downgrade to 3.1.x with a simple shift+restore with a stock fw. It can be a custom fw as well. You might run into an error after the restore (such as 1004 or 1015) but that can be bypassed with Recboot (kicking out of recovery mode).

Great, now i need to find or create a custom 4.1 file.

Is there a benefit to creating a custom one, rather than updating through itunes, then jailbreaking like normal?

You would be better off to create a new one. Then you can select what options you would like etc.

Download the official 4.1 ipsw required from here. Then open sn0wbreeze and follow the instructions. When you are presented with the screen with "general" and "unlocks" etc, click general and follow through the menus, customizing your firmware (enabling multi-tasking etc). Then when you finish that, click build ipsw and click next. It will create the custom firmware and ask you if you have jailbroken before. Close sn0wbreeze and download iREB from ih8sn0w.com. Run it and follow the instructions to put your phone in DFU mode, when you phone shows "Waiting for custom firmware" open itunes and shift+click restore to the firmware you created (which will be located on the desktop).

Wait for it to restore and you should be all done.
