Angry iphone woes in ...south korea
I'm live here now, just brought my iphone from the states.... no dice my friend

South Korean cell networks DO NOT use sim cards. i went on the economy with my lgcu500 to see if i could get a sim for it in seoul at one of the biggest electronics markets in the world and nobody could help me.

i'll back that up. For foreigners they offer a rent a phone services. They use totally different bands then GSM or GPRS. The SIM card is just for number designation and tracking use with a certain network from my understanding. That would be cool if the iPhone was CDMA ready. Then trips to Korea and Japan would be so freaking awesome.

GSM 900 is only available in North Korea <http://www.gsmworld.com/roaming/gsminfo/cou_kp.shtml>.

    In South Korea its 3G 2100 <http://www.gsmworld.com/roaming/gsminfo/cou_kr.shtml>.

So unless you are taking a trip to the North Korea, your iPhone will not work in South Korea.

    Cheers,
