Thread: Accidentally deleted contents of /var/lib/dpkg/

Default Accidentally deleted contents of /var/lib/dpkg/
I was having problems with Cydia crashing, so I followed the instructions here. When I got to this line:
Remove anything in this folder. Leave the folder, just make sure it is empty:
    /var/lib/dpkg/updates/
I misread it, and didn't see the "/updates" part. So now I have an empty /var/lib/dpkg/ directory.

Is there anything I can do, or am I screwed?

When I try to restore to 4.0.1 (which is what my phone is running), I always get an Error 21. Help?

Apple is not signing 4.0.1 anymore, so unless you have your shsh saved you can't go to 4.0.1

I do have it saved. I modified my hosts file to point gs.apple.com to saurik's SHSH server, and got error 21.

I tried using TinyUmbrella, and iTunes just stayed stuck on "Preparing iPhone for restore..." during which my iPhone reboots. It eventually gives a 1602 error.

Use tinyumbrella to kick it out of DFU mode

It's not in DFU mode, because it reboots as "Preparing iPhone for restore..." comes up.
