Thread: "You Got Mail" sound for email on iPhone 4

    Default "You Got Mail" sound for email on iPhone 4
    so i still got the old you_got_mail.caf file is it possible that I could SSH this somewhere into my iPhone 4 so i could have the You got mail sound?

    i miss it

    do you have it on your iphone 4? i cant believe i havent seen any threads on altering the sounds yet (which i assumed wasnt possible, or could screw things up hope not)

    There are just a lot of people dont bother with it, most people alter their sms tones but because you can just winterboard it most don't I altered mines since i didnt wanna have to install a cydia package just to do that and it wasnt even on cydia anyhow so i had to make one.

    I don't remember off the top of my head but the general directory should be
    /System/Library/Audio/UISounds

    Ill look when I get home from work which one is the email received filed if you don't find it.

    Yea its in that folder the received mail file name is new-mail.caf so just replace that with the .aif you got mail you made, and it will work. I just did it on mines and it works fine. Just convert the audio like you would do for custom SMS tones and rename your new file to match the one your replacing

    Yes your right , I just confirmed it . Just paste the " u got mail " caf sound and rename it to "new-mail.caf" that will replace it with ur new sound . Make sure you back up your original sound =)

    Here ya guys go, just replace this one with the one in the directory I told you about earlier. Remember to backup your old file if you plan to use it later.
