Default Internet Tethering on 3GS after upgrade to iOS4
    Hi,

I own a 3GS 3.1.2 jailbroken and unlocked, and willing to update to OS4.x, unlock and jailbreak.

One of the key features I use from current OS is the Internet Tethering, to use it as a 3G modem connected to a Windows PC.

Could anyone confirm Internet Tethering is still available in OS4 ?

This would be a key decision factor for me to update.

    Thanks

    Hi,

    thanks for your input.
Does this apply to 3G internet tethering as well ?
I'm not using the iPhone as an access point.
Instead, I'm using it as a 3G modem.

    Thanks

Yes mywi turns your phone into a wifi hotspot so other devices can use it's 3g connection.

Ok, I undertstand that, but I guess I will not need mywi if I'm just using the native tethering available in 3.1.2(and in 4.x ???) via USB to a single PC, will I ?

    Am I missing something ?

    Thanks a lot

Yes ios4 has native tethering, but if your on AT&T turning that on will change your data plan and increase your monthly rate. The only way currently to get around this is mywi, which can enable usb tethering also.

I see where the disconnect is, now !!
I'm in Europe and not on AT&T plan, but on a flat rate data plan !!!

Thanks a lot for your support !!

Ahhhh ok. Then I'm not sure how the native tethering will work with your carrier, but it is still built into the os.

    Good to know !!
The one with 3.1.2 is working pretty neat.
    Fast and stable.
I even run a VPN on it.
I'll give a try to the 4.0.1 one and update the post with my impression.
