Default Please help. iPhone 3GS (New bootrom) failed jailbreak.
    Hey guys,

I got a new 3GS a couple of months ago from the US and have relied on the blackrain software to jailbreak and unlock my phone. I'm using 3GS with a new boot rom and when I check Cydia I saw that I've got a 3.1.3 SH (even though my firmware is 3.1.2).

So my phone got turned off and when I tried to do a jailbreak like I always do I got stuck at geohot's screen and the white loading circle froze for about 5 mins before the phone rebooted back to the "connect to itunes" screen. I'm guessing the jailbreak failed.

I've tried jailbreaking from both my macbook and Win7 machines.

Could someone please help me by sending me a link or giving some advice?

    Thank you.

Thanks for showing me the link but QuickPwn seems to freeze every time I reboot the phone.

You're going to have to restore. Do you need your iphone to be unlocked? If you do, then you'll have to edit your hosts file to redirect back to Saurik's server to trick iTunes when you're restoring to 3.1.2 .

If you're on AT&T, then just restore to 3.1.3 and jailbreak with spirit.

Hello mitchell209, yeah I do need an unlock cause I don't live in the US.
Could you please direct me to the Saurik server.

P.S: As mentioned above, I checked Cydia when I first installed it and it showed that my SH file was 3.1.3 (even though I was on 3.1.2). Is that going to be a problem?

I don't think it should be a problem.

Try looking on YouTube or google for guides on how to downgrade your iphone 3GS. There should be quite a few.

If Cydia only has the 3.1.3 SHSH there's no way to downgrade.

As a last resort, you can do this: Preventing baseband update as a last-ditch effort [iPhone Dev Team]

Thank you dhamien, was wondering if this a occurring problem with the 3GS or am I one of the rare unfortunate few who had to deal with this.

It's common'ish with blackra1n/blacksn0w. Are you using blacksn0w to unlock? If so, you should uninstall it and install blacksn0w RC2 instead. You can read about it here: Pushfix 2.0 • View topic - Blacksn0w RC2 Final

Oh damn, forgot about that baseband preservation thing.

You should definitely do that then jailbreak with spirit. Once spirit has jailbroken your iphone, just install blacksn0w from cydia.

So what I do now is upgrade to 3.1.3, jailbreak with Spirit then download blacksn0w to unlock?
