Default SpringVibe 3.x; Cydia Paid Apps - Buyer Beware!
I just updated to 3.1 --- and now every time I reboot my phone a "Thank You For Purchasing" pop-up window is displayed. Thinking it was a problem with my phone. I did some house cleaning, removed the app, rebooted, removed the preferences entry and reinstalled .... Uggggg -- it still occurs

So ... I sent this message to the developer: EvilPenguin| [[email protected]]
How many times must I dismiss the Thank You For Purchasing pop-up window? Every boot is NOT acceptable!!
    The developers [EvilPenguin] response:
    EvilPenguin| [mailto:[email protected]]
It needs to check that you've paid for it every boot, and you clear your temp folder at boot which is where my check goes into play.
I was not happy as indicated in my reply:
Well...... I have no control over the tmp folder.
I am doing nothing with it either before, after, or anytime.

It sounds like you're connecting to the internet after each boot to verify purchase.
This is not good!! What happens without an internet connection --- shut down my phone??

I will not have an application on my phone that requires dismissing a pop-up window on every boot. What happens with the next app? And the next? And the next? Pretty soon, I'll be pressing OK multiple times just to reboot -- or the Cydia apps fail because I don't have an internet connection at boot up.

This is NOT acceptable!!! It's gone from my iPhone until this is fixed.

This is worse that Apple !!
Ten minutes later -- his response:
    EvilPenguin| [mailto:[email protected]]
    Thanks.
Beware ladies and gentlemen. Something is going on with some of these Cydia apps --- something that's smells bad, maybe as bad (or worse) than Apple.

That's it for me. No more $$$ for Cydia apps until I know all the details!!. They have pushed this legitimate user too far!!

this has nothing to do with Cydia apps in general, this is just that certain Devs, decision to do so.

oh btw, u posted this in wrong section too.

Yes I know, each developer does his or her own thing. Hense my statement: Buyer Beware!!

And sorry all .. please move to the right section. I did the right thing and searched -- found another SpringVibe thread in this section dated April 4, 2010 and ..... well, now you know how it got here. Oops

This is not acceptable. The temp check can be performed in the background without having to actually acknowledge the check. It's not rocket science for pete's sake.

Now, it sounds like a scam. A way just to steal money.

I had to check again ....

Reloaded this paid-for app (v3.1), rebooted, still the ugly pop-up 'Thank You" window.

So I disabled WiFi and removed the SIM to disable all network activity ... and rebooted.

Darn, now my phone boots to Safe Mode --- every time!!!!!!!!!!!
Respring - SafeMode, respring - SafeMode, respring - SafeMode.........
SIM card installed --- boots OK (with the pop-up Thank You window).

This is absolutely crazy. I'll bet you the developers personal version doesn't do this !!!!!!!

Wow that sucks! You need to remove that apt and sent it to the recycle bin!

    Thanks for the heads up!

I had this problem but i found away around restoring. Luckily I had my Wi-Fi on and I have an SSH software installed in my computer (Cyberduck is what I have). I just went into cyberduck and removed SpringVibe via ssh.
If you're on 3G..you may have to restore...

I think this App put me into Apple Logo Death Loop, bad news immediately after installing..

Im staying away from any app that tweaks vibration, that will just munch on battery.

Definetly recommend staying aways from this one.
