unplug it and press and hold power and home for at least 30 seconds. let go and press the power button for 2 seconds. If it doesn't fire up, press and hold power for 30 more seconds.

    Try what One1 suggested first:

    1. Is it stuck at the Apple Logo?

      • Yes, restore a custom firmware for your iPhone model or restore stock iphone firmware and re-jailbreak.
      • Do not restore stock 3.1 or 3.1.2 if you want to preserve your ability to unlock. Read Dev-Team Blog

    2. Try another USB port.
    3. Try another computer.
    4. Does iTunes recognize it.

      • Yes, see #1.
      • Report back, but provide more information

FYI: People should post what model iPhone / iPod (iPhone 3G) they have, firmware version (3.1.2), and then a detail description of the problem.

    its a 3g on 3.0.
    unlocked & jailbroken

ok i turned it on today after a whole night of it like that. i thought that was wierd because it had like 3/4 battery left. well, today it was lagging a lot lately. im guessing that could be why it froze on me the first tme right before i turned it off. idk what to do to help resove that. anybody help me?

Can you post what specialized applications you have installed from Cydia, like SMSettings, Winterboard, iBlacklist, MCleaner, 5 icon dock, etc.

If I understand you right it is working now, but running very slow? If you installed any recent applications, ecpecially from Cydia, try uninstalling them. If that doesn't work, I would recommend restoring (Option+Restore) firmware 3.0 iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw, and then re-jailbreak with redsnow 0.8.

    iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw

Plug it into your computer, then put it into DFU mode -

Hold down the Home and Power button at the same time, then after 10 seconds (exactly) release the Sleep/Wake button. Continue holding the home button until you iTunes pops up a message telling you that it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode.

Then iTunes will make you restore it.

This happened to me too, so don't worry
    Hope I helped

After installing winterboard, phone won't reboot. Tried the DFU method in iTunes, and it dl'd update but wouldn't install it.

What are the errors iTunes gives? We can help diagnose the problem if we know the error codes

808 I would suggest syncing your contacts to your computer before you restore, and after restore start as new phone restoring from backup messes the phone up. Last time you updated did you restore from backup?
