Post cannot setup my iTunes to Saurik's Signature Server
    Hi

I have iphone 3GS running 3.0.1 , jailbroken and unlocked

My PC runs Windows Vista Home Premium.

(I am not a pc expert or programmer, so pls forgive my lack of knowledge)

    I navigated to CWindows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
Then opened the Hosts file using Notepad.

Saurik says "add the following entry to the bottom of the file 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com"

    Two problems I have
    1) There are # marks showing against other items in this Host file - do i need to add these before and after 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com ?

2)after adding the 74.208 etc line I cannot save the file.
    It says
    Cannot create the CWindows\Sysytem32\drivers\etc\Hosts file
Make sure the path and file name are correct

Pls advise as I want to protect my downgrading ability

    thank you
    Hopmah

no. the # marks a comment, so every line starting with a # is ignored by windows.

you can't save it because you need administrator rights to do so. the easiest way is: copy the file to your desktop, edit it there, then copy it back.

sorry, I didn't really get that you are not syncing via cydia at all, the cydia server is only used during a restore, if that's what you meant. none of your data (music, apps, whatever) is stored on the cydia server
