    Red face missing apps?
    Hello
Not to successful asking questions on the net
but I'll try again. My 3g is jailbroken, unlocked,
and running on Tmobile. I have tried to install
some apps using tutorials from iclarified. But some
of the apps seem to be missing or at least not in the
right location. One is mobilesubstrate. there are
others, how do I find these apps on the iphone, ive
done a "search" nothing turned up. I do not have the
"installer" that should have been installed when
cydia was installed, but I do have the Icy installer
which I read is the newer version, "why the change"

For one thing, mobilesubstrate is part of the iPhone system, not an application, and thus has no icon. Many Cydia/Installer apps modify mobilesubstrate upon installation. If an app is installed, and there isn't an icon, read the instructions. SBSettings, for example, doesn't have an icon, but appears when you swipe the menu bar.

Btw, I mainly use Cydia as I never quite find what I want in Icy (formally Installer).
Until the next time… And if I help you out, give me a "Thanks!" Thanks!

thanks for the reply. I guess its confussing when so many
apps are talked about. When I follow the instructions and
the "app" is not there, I wonder. again why so many different
icons or apps, if you use cydia, why the need for another
installer, or why "installer or icy"? right now I was looking
at a way to tether Iphone to mac, something is missing in the
steps from what is on the info compared to my iphone...
anyway thanks for the early input..

Can't you use the built in tethering with 3.0? Otherwise, look at PDAnet. Icy was built as a faster alternative to Cydia. Competition and all that.

If you don't want all the icons on your SpringBoard, you can hide them using SBSettings. Also, SBSettings has a "Dock" feature that allows you to remove icons from the SpringBoard and have them in an "on-call" location. Other add-ons, like Stacks, allow you to combine multiple app icons into one folder.
Until the next time… And if I help you out, give me a "Thanks!" Thanks!
