Take it to a local cell phone repair place. They may have to take it apart to get the SIM out. There's no other way to do it... the hole is meant to eject the SIM card... if that doesn't work you're basically out of options.

Just a thought, perhaps try to push down (applying pressure) on the sim tray as your inserting the paper clip. But I'm sure you've already tried that. Good luck.

I didn't say to Apple... I said a local cell phone repair place. Calling Apple will do you no good.. they don't offer broken hardware advice. They'll tell you to make a Genius bar appointment and take your phone in.

ok , what about the broken mechanism? , will they be able to do anything about that , as my local cellphone places dont do anything with iphones

Agreed - pull it back like a lever. That will pull it out.

If you have no other options - unscrew the 2 screws on the bottom of the iphone and then use a suction cup on the screen and lift it from the bottom. You will now be able to see the mainboard etc. and the sim tray can be pushed out from inside.
