    Default Crazy Safe Mode Crashes
My 2.2 3G jb'd iPhone is crashing to Safe Mode every day or two. Started happening after installing Skype, then the two MobileSubstrate updates and VOIP3G a couple days later. I thought it was back to normal after removing the VOIP3G. Maybe it's better, but sometimes it will crash every 2 days or so, sometimes 2 times in 1 hour. Now Skype is gone. Because I'm not convinced the problem is really gone .......

I installed syslogd to /var/log/syslog (Jay Freeman) (via Cydia)

Realizing in the default installation /var/log/syslog will grow really fast with a bunch of non-essential information I changed the configuration file to save only type 'err' and higher messages based upon the syslog.conf man page at this site:

Original /etc/syslog.conf as installed by Cydia:
    *.* /var/log/syslog

    Modified /etc/syslog.conf
    *.err /var/log/syslog-errplus

Both lines are acceptable if wanted.

Maybe this info will help someone else.

Update: WeatherIcon (fairly sure) was causing the crashes. Did a complete uninstall (including the plist file, reinstalled and it's fairly solid now. Maybe 1 or 2 crashes to safe-mode per week. Love weathericon, and believe the issue occurs when weathericon updates and the iPhone changes the network (edge to wifi or wifi to edge).
I can live with it now
