    I bet they just changed the signal indicator to represent a higher level of reception at higher (more positive) dBms :d

    I think the boost is in everyones heads.

    I upgraded my unlocked iphone (1st generation) to 1.1.4 and the signal is stronger everywhere but not in my house. Further from my house, I get at least 3 bars. Someone suggested interference. My neighbors have 3 to 5 direct TV antennas on their houses and a ham antenna is nearby. Could something like my wifi be interfering? I am getting a booster (Cell Ranger Port) and hope that helps.

    Why...why...why??? It can be frustrating to find out about the limitations on the iphone. Can you afford to pay $70 to $100 a month for service. Reception for calls may be a real problem. And watch out for the 3rd party applications. The least they can drain your battery....the most they can lock up your phone. How about an Instinct or LG phone?
