Thread: 1.0.2 stuck in Restore Mode

Default 1.0.2 stuck in Restore Mode
I revirginized my iPhone in 1.0.2. Now the IMEI is back to normal, along with everything else. I tried to upgrade to 1.1.1 (to get back to 1.1.2) and now I'm stuck in Recovery Mode. I can't even do a restore up to 1.1.3 the normal way. I've tried a few combinations of firmware (1.1.1, 1.1.2, 1.0.2) and iTunes versions (7.5, 7.6) to no avail. Any suggestions?

Connect iPhone to computer, have iTunes open.

Hold down Home and Sleep until iPhone turns off.

Immediately let go of Sleep when it powers off, but keep holding Home. Keep an eye on iTunes.

As soon as iTunes says an iPhone is connected in Recovery Mode, release the Home button. iPhone screen will still be all black. If its not, you held Home too long.

NOW restore to 1.0.2 or 1.1.1. I recommend 1.0.2 just for the sheer joy of it.

Follow guides to get wherever you want.

Hey, thanks for the reply. It didn't work. How long do I have to hold home for anything to happen? I tried it in 7.5 and 7.6 and gave up after a minute of holding in each.

Am I just going to have to take it to an AT&T store and make them exchange it for a new one? (I live in Idiot'sville, Indiana; they'd probably do it due to lack of knowledge about how to fix iPhones )

Well.. if DFU mode (that) isn't working... yah, you're screwed. Take it in.

Tanj in torment... Okay, since there aren't any third-party apps on it anymore, and since the IMEI and baseband are normal again, do you think they'd give me a new one if they couldn't fix it? I mean, I've NEVER done anything to it. Besides, I'm still under the standard Apple part/fix warranty. Hey, since it's a 4GB, would they have to give me an 8GB?! Woot woot, if that's the case. Thanks for the help!

If you've got ATT, then yes.

Tanj... I have nothing, right now. It's a launch day phone that I WON and haven't put service on. Could I just say that I was waiting for my contract to expire on my other phone (Verizon, and I am), or some other form of getting-around-itness?
