Default Upgrading Jailbroken iPhone to > 1.1.1
I have an iphone that I bought off of ebay a couple months came with 1.1.1 firmware and I would like to upgrade to 1.1.4 or 2. This is a jailbroken iphone. I would like to know the dangers of doing this and how to do. I'm using Windows XP. I would like to upgrade to higher firmware and then unlock again. What's the best software to use for this?

In addition, I have a message coming up every time I turn on the phone and I think upgrading may help - "this accessory is not made for this iphone".

you want winpwn, i think its in the wiki section of this site.

skip 1.1.4 and go straight to 2.0, it has the appstore.

follow the tutorial for winpwn and you will have your iphone at 2.0 jailbroken and unlocked in a matter of 30 minutes .

Your best two options are to either upgrade to 1.1.4 or 2.0

2.0 has bugs right now, and many users experience lag inbetween opening/closing certain programs, and there are various other problems that are out right now.

I would suggest upgrading to 1.1.4, and unlocking via ziPhone, iLiberty, or Win PWN. If you take this option, you can upgrade to 2.01/2.1 when they are released.

As far as "this accessory is not made for use with the iPhone", that won't go away. It just means the thing you are hooking into the port on buttom wasn't designed for the iPhone.
