Default iPhone Firmware 2.0 + App Battery Drain
I updated to the new firmware Thursday night and install a few apps from the app store. Charged my battery that night and then unplugged it in the morning. It went all day just fine and last night i was above 80-90% on my battery charge, I then installed a few more apps and went to bed. Then I woke up this morning and the battery was drained to less than 20%. Is anyone else having this problem. I know the apps are not supposed to run in the background on the iphone but I cannot see why it stayed charged good thoughout the day and was just drain at night within 6-8hrs.

Hmm... Didn't have that issue... In fact, I plugged my iPhone into a BOSE Sound Dock that isn't charge compatible and then listened to the AOL Radio app. I woke up with most of my charge still there.

Nothing like that here. I've been constantly browsing and playing... so the battery has to be charged atleast once a day, lol... it is right now :P

If one of the app you installed was AOL (AIM) you will need to go into the phones settings and turn work in the background off.
The app adds a setting option in the phones pref settings toward the bottom.
Other wise it will run even when you exit the app.

I'm having exactly the same problem. It seems clear that it's something running in the background (I didn't install AIM), because the "Usage" is showing over 10 hours, and I haven't used the phone for more than an hour since I charged it yesterday.

I guess the smart thing to do would be delete all the apps from the phone, and then add them back one at a time to figure out which one is draining the battery. But as a shortcut we could compare apps and see if there's a common denominator. Here's what I've installed:

    eReader
    FiatLux
    Google
    iChing
    Labyrinth
    LifeGame
    Molecules
    Monkey Ball
    NetNewsWire
    Pandora
    Remote
    Trism
    TapTap
    VoiceNotes
    WeatherBug

I have exactly the same problem. I was bragging to people about the fact that I don't recharge for days. Now overnight I lose 80% of the charge although I don't use it. All I did was upgraded to 2.0 (and tried 2.1 last night it is worse) - and added a bunch of free apps like NYTimes, Bloomberg, Breakclassic, Jawbreaker, SubwayLife, iScopes. I am tempted to delete all these apps and in fact go back to v1.3 if it will help.

Any of you guys have SSH running in the backgroud? Or have your mail on auto-retrieve, or Wifi running without a network connection?

I am not doing anything different before and after the 2.0 upgrade. But I did try switching off Wifi (I don't have SSH). Don't seem to make any difference
