Default How's ur BATTERY IN UR FIRMWARE?
Please log comments AND SUGGESTION so our iphone can have a longer battery life.

Before im using 1.0.2, my battery last for 1 1/2 days. Normal calls (around 20/calls a day wiith 2minutes duration each) few minutes of wifi. around 2 hrs of music playing.

Now 1.1.1 every night i need to charge :-(

although i now this reminder can save battery life
-brightness should be set to low
-turnoff wifi if not needed
-turnoff vibration

after voting, please log in ur comments so everybody have more ideas which firmware is the best in terms of battery life. thanks

I use my Iphone excessively... So I only get about 1 day out of it.

• f/w 1.1.2
• ~ 3-4 hrs of Wi-Fi
• ~ 1-2 hrs of Music Playback
• ~ 2-3 hrs of Games
• < 1 hr of Video Playback/YouTube
• ~ 1-2 hrs of EDGE

Sometimes, I'm listening to music, and surfing the web, or playing a game. You get the picture. But my battery isn't low at the end of the night, it is at ~ 25-30% left. I charge it b/c I cannot charge when I'm at work. But when I don't work I drain it to keep up the 'memory' or whatever.

BTW: When I'm not on Wi-Fi or EDGE, I have them turned 'off' via Services App. Also, when not using the screen (for music playback or phone calls) it is set all the way to dim w/ the Auto-Brightness set.

Not meaing to threadjack, but I think that this belongs here: What exactly does the 'Auto-Brightness' do? I turn it on and the screen gets slightly brighter... Don't quite understand...

It dims the screen when the ambient light (in the room, etc.) is also low - this is because there is a far greater contrast - eg. when it is light outside, car lights taht are on are barely visable - when it is night, you can see them from miles away.

Sorry, for the patronising example but I have just woken.

Not patronizing at all. Thanks for the reply. I had noticed that it was getting lighter in brighter conditions, but didn't occur to me exactly why lol.

Some battery saving reminders which aren't provided by Apple...
- When SSH is not in use, turn it OFF
- When AFP is not in use, turn it OFF

These two are very hungry battery hounds, when left on they are continuously running, as they keep listening for an incoming signal.
Get "iPod & iTunes for Dummies", it'll change your life.

There's a new one called NetServices.app that you can get through the installer. It will find any third party daemon that's running. You could also do it manually through UIctl.

Running a non-jailbroken 1.1.2 phone, I can get about a day and a half of standby time with up to 8-9 hours of heavy usage. I mean non-stop music throughout the day, Internet/wifi for 60% of the time, and youtube/video for the rest.

just a day...use for an hr in the morning then dont touch it all day untill like 4 then wifi is always on and brightness to the fullest also email is refreshed every 15 min. i use it from lets say 5-12 a lot with add ons said above and my battery usually just tells me its 20% remaining when im going to sleep to charge it.

19. #17
i use it excessively, pretty much all the time on apollo or texting/listening to music.

I use 1.1.1 and i can only last a day of usage. I really really need help on lowering the usage so my battery doesn't die out on me.

1.1.2
1 1/2 to 2 days life
5-6 hours of music a day
1-2 hours wifi
lots of edge time on mmi (no wifi at work)
1-2 hours of games
brightness isat 30%, auto is on

If im not mistaken the edge and wifi are both turned off when not active in 1.1.2

bought my iphone the first week, upgraded through all f/w versions and I like 1.1.2 the best.
