Question Screen doesn't work after three seconds of inactivity
    Hi all!

I've got an iPhone with a problem that I don't know if its hardware or software. If anyone knows, please tell me. (I'm in Europe so there's no way to send the iPhone back to Apple Care.)

Pre problem: Virgin 1.1.1 unlocked with jailbrakeme.com. Installed some applications including, SummerBoard, To-Do, etc. Not too many. Then transfered mp3s and Outlook calendar items.

Problem: One day after receiving the iPhone (and doing the above) the screen stops responding when touching it. It was after a crash with Safari. It works if I keep one finger on the screen. But after not giving the unit tactile input for approx. 3,5 seconds the screen doesn't respond anymore. The physical buttons still work (ringer, click man button, double click main button) although. The only way to get it to work again is to turn it off, turn it on, do the slide and then I'm in again untill I've not touched it long enough.

I've tried restoring 1.1.1, restoring 1.0.2, restoring back to 1.1.1 and tried to take away the SummerBoard dimmer bug (crashing applications, that did happen before this screen error with 1.1.1, probably due to dim background in SummerBoard).

(Oh yeah, this has nothing to do with screens that only work on the upper part of the screen. All parts of my screen works.)

Any ideas? Seems I've tried everything. Hardware problem?

    Okay.

The strange thing is that auto-lock seems to be the problem somehow. If I change from never to other settings the phone can start not to respond at all (instead of within three seconds).

Thanks anyway! I've ordered a second one. Perhaps I can repair the first one some day if it's only hardware as you say.

There's nothing that we can guide you through. It's a hardware issue. Return your phones to normal (virginize) and contact Apple for warranty work.
