Default Third party charger/dock damage Iphone
I have read several threads on this topic, but I have yet to see the authoratative answer on the problem. Does anyone know what causes the iphone to get so hot and then stop working/charging? is there a specific component or part that could be repaired/replaced when this occurs? Thanks.

Chargers that are made for "Ipods" only and ARE NOT compatible with the Iphone charge at 12v.....the iphone only charges at 5v, so you take a risk of frying a circuitboard. I did it with mine accidentally.

Apple replaced it for me , even after seeing my cool Summerboard theme

I had it plugged in to a charger and not the screen is completely and totally unresponsive to any touch!

    I'm at a loss...

I am hoping that some of the more hardware knowledgable folks out there chime in. This seems to be very random and even can happen with quality third party stuff like the Bose dock. What gives? anyone?
