Default Best iPad Video Conversion program?
hey guys, i have lots of videos i would like to convert into the ipad video format. i want to do this not only to be able to load them thru itunes, but to conserve some hdd space as they will probably be much smaller in size.

i will report back here if i find a really good one on my own.

Been asked many times. But I perfer handbrake. It works great. Not really a smaller size but it does shave off a tiny bit.

I just use a slightly custom high profile setting. And glad the AppleTV, the new one, will use these settings no problem either.

What formats do you have? Have you checked out CineXPlayer from the app store? It's free and is able to play avi files and a few others (not mkv ). It won't play all avi files but the majority of the ones i've used work fine with it. Saves time converting the files and the app is free!

CineXPlayer ? The best way to enjoy your Xvid movies for iPad on the iTunes App Store

For files that wont play on it, i use handbrake as well.

Plex is awesome too. I just started using that. It is a 5$ app but works great.

Ooops nvm you are on windows. Plex is OSX only.

iPodMe is a pretty nice portable program. It requires no installer and the foot print is small as hell. It does everything I need it to do, but I haven't tried it with iPhone 4 or iPad yet. Currently checking into options for iPad.

    download air video.

you can queue up so it can convert your movies from your ipad. then your computer does everything

or you can do a live conversion to watch it.

Handbrake ftw. High profile. Check the "magically make my video super awesome" box, and it will make even the lamest movies, super awesome.
And it will be like a taco inside a taco within a Taco Bell that's inside a KFC that's within a mall that's inside your dream!

The question I have since we are talking about conversion here is how do you convert a .mov to watch it on a dvd player? Recorded my son's wedding vows and would love to share them with other family members.

^iDVD doesn't work for that? I just assumed it did. I've always taken the easy route and made sure I have a divx capable dvd player, cuts out the huge majority of conversions that are typically needed.

If iDVD does not work you could try iMovie.

Lol. We seriously need to get a sticky going for different conversion programs. But with VLC now in the Appstore it's almost unnecessary to convert. At least for most of your XVids

I think Handbrake is good - well thats the one i use

however if you dont want to clog up ur iPad with video's u can get an app called Air video - it streams avi files from your desktop and transcodes it "on the fly" as your watching it.

    it works a treat
