Well, do you have any iWidgets or Lockscreens that use WW 2? If so, is the location info populating? If it is, then I would say you are correct. Else, I would say Simon's response makes sense, as the issue with yahoo's location services being down has been known to happen before.

Hey King... What api does the stock weather app call up to resolve its own coordinates data? Because that data is populating fine for me.

I believe it gets it from Weather.com, but it's been so long, I can't remember 100%.

If you mean the address and city/neighborhood. Then yes we are all having same issue.

Just a thought, but is there possibly a temporary workaround for this until the Yahoo location feed is back up?

Not in WidgetWeather2 itself. The widgets you are using would have to be edited to make a call to GoogleMaps to get city. I can offer that as a workaround while I'm snowed in this weekend. I'm busy with work until then. If the YahooPlaceFinder feed is still down by tomorrow late afternoon I'll start working on the work around code for our widgets..

Ok, so it appears as Yahoo Place Finder API has been discontinued! So, what does that have to do with WW2? Well, not much actually. Except that is where I was getting the location info that is parsed to the WW.xml file.

    So now what?

Well, it looks like WW2 will have to be recoded to use another location API. It looks like Google has all the info that we need, we just need to be able to parse it back into the WW.xml file like we did with the Yahoo API. So, please bear with me while we sort this out and test it. Those that have followed the create / update process of WW will know that I don't like to release without a thorough testing regime. But I am willing to accelerate the normal testing paradigm to get this fixed ASAP!

So please be patient and hopefully we can work this out relatively quickly.

Thanks to all that support WW2!

For clarification - when WW2 is updated, widgets that rely on it won't need any reworking? I was terrified at the prospect of having to try and code this myself considering I have 0 idea how to do that and would just be taking cues from the folks over at the UNIAW7 post.

That would be the plan. We worked very hard to keep WW compatible with all legacy versions.

For a couple minutes this morning my widget was showing a city name, and just like that it was gone again.

I would think we have every reason to believe (though no proof) that that feed is dead and gone and will be of no real future use to us.

Marty McFly thankfully found a newer Yahoo feed that seems alive and well. There's code you can add to your WW2 widgets that you can learn about in the UniAW7.1 thread for temporarily getting your Widget cities back again. This new Yahoo feed I'm pretty sure King_O_Hill and his team are working on to get in WW2 for location updating as well. May take a little time but I'm pretty sure it'll get done.
