Thread: Widget Weather 2.0 - New and Extemely Improved

  1. #661
    Hey guys,

So I finally upgraded to the iPhone 6. Jailbroke the phone and downloaded this app and it was working fine. I was able to get to the settings and all but after I downloaded UniAW7, every time I go into Settings and try to launch the app, it just crashes into safe mode. I removed UniAW7, ran iCleaner, restarted the phone, un-installed WW2 and re-installed it but it still crashes every time I try to launch it in Settings. Does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this?

    Thanks in advance.

If you tried to download WidgetWeather from Cydia - it's not compatible with iOS8. You must download WidgetWeather2. There's a link in King_O_Hill's signature to his repo to add WidgetWeather2.0-2

Sorry bro, but I have no control as to what weather is being reported by your local weather station.

    Hey King,

I downloaded WW2 from your repo. Figured out what the issue was. I had the phone connected to my PC. Was transferring UniAW7 to my phone. Trying to run WW2 while connected kept crashing the phone. Once I disconnected, it was working fine.

    Thanks.

    Hi King,

Does WW2 constantly check location in the background? I have it set for 15 min intervals and GPS is set for Significant Change. However, I am seeing the Location Services icon in the status bar all the time. Only way to stop it is to go into Location Services and set it to Never.

    Thanks.

  12. #668
Yes, if you are using GPS, then it will be on. You don't need to switch it in "Location Services" to Never, you can just switch to Fixed in the WW settings. Then you can always press the "update current location" in WW settings if you travel and want to see the data for your current location.

Having the same issue. I have the settings the same as you and the gps location background is slowly creeping up to the top of the list.

I turn background app refresh off completely, so I don't get nearly this kind of battery drain.

In fact, WW doesn't even show up in my Battery Usage screen.

I installed it and it shows 0% for WW for the last 7 days!

You need to turn off "Background App Refresh" completely!

Thanks. But doesn't this mean that my Lockscreen weather will not update unless I press "update current location"? For example, i work in NYC but live in NJ. I would like to have it update my location and weather automatically without having to manually update the location. From your suggestion, this would not be the case unless i leave Location Update to GPS. Is this correct?

Also, Background App Refresh is turned off.

Yes bro, you can't have it both ways! You want GPS, but you don't want location services to be active?!?!

That's like not liking the price of gas so you don't drive your car and then you complain that you can't get anywhere!

Sorry bro, welcome to the dark side!

will822, here is what I do.. Make sure "Background App Refresh" is completely off. It is never needed for anything. A fluffy thing Apple put in for Gamers mostly..

What I do is set it to GPS mode when I leave my house.. so I can see it working as I drive... When I arrive at my destination.. I go back into WidgetWeather2.0 and clik on UPDATE FROM CURRENT LOCATION - which locks in the coordinates of where I am NOW.. Then I switch to FIXED MODE for the entire length of time I'm at my job or friends house or wherever.. Then when I get back in my car.. I switch back to GPS... until I get home.. then repeat the same steps and return to Fixed Mode for the night.

Please understand - I only do this because I love a lot of animation on my phone and it runs down my battery.. so every little bit of battery help I can get I like... People who leave it in GPS mode ALL day, with Background App Refresh turned off hardly get ANY battery drain at all - even with the Location Services on all day. Maybe 3-5% additional drain from my own testing.

Then use HideMe8 or Cloakey to hide the Location Services indicator so it doesn't both you so much. It's a 'mental thing'.. LOL!!
