Default How to fix GPG Error??
Hello. Every time i start Cydia on my iPad i get the following error: "GPG Error: hettp://thebigboss.com.org./ Release: The following signatures were invalid: NODATA 1 NODATA 2"

This is followed by two "Failed to fetch" errors for "http://the bigboss.com.org/betarepo/./Packages.bz2. Sub-process /bin/bzip2 returned an error code (2)" and "http://apt.modmyi.com/dists/stable/main/binary-iphoneos-arm/Packages.gz Cached failure."

How do i fix these errors??? And please be gentle, i am a newbie.

Do you have SSH access to your iPad? If yes login as root and type
    Code:
    apt-get update
if you see no errors then type
    Code:
    apt-get upgrade
You should get a more detailed error message then. Copy it in here.

I did as you suggested but i still get the same error message. When i ran the second command, Terminal's return message looked clean -- there were no errors reported. A bunch of stuff was reported after the first command, however. Any thoughts?

Okay.. can you please post the output of
    Code:
    apt-key list
The 3 lines from bigboss in the output look like this for me
    Code:
    pub 1024D/8764B4F4 2008-04-24
    uid BigBoss <[email protected]>
    sub 2048g/0B09F05E 2008-04-24
I exported my GPG Pubkey from TBB for you. Upload it into /var/root (the homedir of root). Then do
    Code:
    cp /etc/apt/trusted.gpg /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.bak
    and
    Code:
    apt-key add bigboss.txt
    Attached Files Attached Files

Okay next try.. again open a root shell and do
    Code:
    cd /var/cache/apt
    mkdir backup
    mv *pkgcache.bin backup/
A backup is normally not needed but I learned to always backup to be sure that I can go back if something went wrong. After these 3 commands start Cydia and look what it says.

I ran the ssh [email protected] IP address and then the 3 lines you suggested from my desktop. I then accessed cydia on the ipad and the same errors appeared.

That's really odd because with this we deleted the package cache. So the cached error should be normally gone. I am out of ideas now

    One last idea:

Uninstall "BigBoss's Source". Close Cydia and restart it. When you reload the changes you should not get this error anymore (yeah because TBB is gone ). Now search for the package and install it again. Try to reaload the changes and see if the error comes.

    These are 2 different errors.

The first one tells you that the GPG Public Key of the repository is expired. Remove the repository from your sources and add it again. You should get the new pubkey then. If not you have to remove http://iphone.hackndev.org from your sources list and wait for the repository admins to fix the problem.

The second one says that the repository could not be reached. This can be a temporary problem. If it doesn't vanishes you have to delete http://apt.hackers.nl from your sourceslist.

I cannot uninstall BigBoss' Source. I go to Cydia|Manage|Sources|Edit, but then there is no way (that I can see) to delete the BigBoss source. Am I missing something?

No.. not Sources. You have to uninstall the Package "BigBoss's Source".

D'oh. OK I uninstalled BigBoss Source from Packages. And the errors went away. The I reinstalled the Source and the errors came back. Ugh.

Did you also try "uninstall".. reboot.. install? If yes I really reached the end of my ideas. Did you also check if maybe some package that you installed from the TBB repo creates this error?

I have had some really bad GPG-errors and whatnot. The culprit is a corrupted repo. the only thing that helped me was to uninstall that repo and everything associated with it with the tool "Cyfix".
Get cyfix and run it, it'll brighten your day! =)
