^^^yeah i think there is too much to remove as far as settings go to do it manually if the command line isnt working.

    Default Cydia crashes
You have either a broken repository, a broken package or broken dependencies. You very well may need to restore your iphone firmware and re-jailbreak.

Try these steps, they have worked for a few users with similiar Cydia problems. Hopefully they will work for you:

    Option 1: Clean, update & force Re-install

    1. Connect to your iphone through SSH terminal like putty SSH (remote) or Mobile Terminal (local)

    2. perform the following as root

    # apt-get clean
    # apt-get autoclean
    # apt-get update
    # apt-get -f install

    if this doesn't work, try

    Option 2: Re-install

    1. Connect to your iphone through SSH terminal like putty SSH (remote) or Mobile Terminal (local)

    2. perform the following as root

    # cd /var/lib/dpkg
    # mv status status.save
    # mv status-old status
    # apt-get install cydia

Option 3: Upgrade all Cydia apps

    1. Connect to your iphone through SSH terminal like putty SSH (remote) or Mobile Terminal (local)

    2. perform the following as root

    # apt-get update
    # apt-get upgrade

Came across this post on Richard Kasperowski: technology, mobile, and more: iPhone hang, Cydia crash, and apt-get bus error
I wanted to install a new application through Cydia today. When I tapped Cydia's Install button, though, Cydia and the entire iPhone froze. The usual power off button didn't work, and I couldn't ssh into it. Thankfully, other people knew how to power off and reboot a hung iPhone.

I tried to run Cydia again, and it crashed immediately. I tried to reinstall Cydia, but there was a seemingly bigger problem:

    mirex:~ root# apt-get install cydia
    Bus errorackage lists... 0%
    mirex:~ root#
    This was Richard's solution.....
    # rm /var/cache/apt/*.bin
    # apt-get update

Problem solved. Cydia ran properly again, and I installed the new application.
