    in order to keep the site quick we have all but abandoned the standard search and replaced the vast majority of searching with google search. The standard vbulletin search is inefficient and lags down our system badly. Unfortunately that mod utilizes the standard search on a HUGE scale to function.

    Macrumors uses it, and ....... well they are huge. Must be something that can be done. It isn't like the users used the old search anyway

    Seriously though, if the post new threads decreases you'll likely have enough resources to use this. This purpose will likely offset the other in a nice balanced way.

    nice theory, things don't work that way, macrumors makes enough money to afford the hardware to run it, we don't.

    if I only had the time to code up a new search engine and implement in vbulletin. I think that should be your next project
