    Default 2 AT&T contracts?
I currently am on a family plan with AT&T. I am not the head of the account. I was wondering if I could purchase a new iPhone with the 2-year agreement, and not change anything about the other account. In other words, get the new iPhone with the contract, but also keep the other phone with the other number, and not affect the family plan at all.

It wont affect the other line it will put you in another 2 year agreement if you upgrade.

When you upgrade YOUR line it only changes the contract of your line. The other lines on the family plan will remain the same. If you are not authorized on the account you might want to look into that or else the person who owns the account will have to be with you during the purchase. They have to sign the contract since it's in their name.

    Thank you!

Now, I did come up with another issue, too: when the phones under the family plan (which is under my wife's name) become eligible for upgrades, will we still be able to upgrade all of them?

Well, gQstatus, I do not want to modify my wife's account, AKA the family plan, one bit. I just want to create an entirely seperate account.

You'll be 100% totally fine having your own completely separate line of service. You can upgrade the phones whenever they're eligible.. the upgrades will of course extend the contract.

    Lovely

    Not

AT&T will let you keep your number, but you will have to go through a credit check to remove your line from the family account to your own personal account.
