Default Possible to install Yelp on 3.0.1?
I have a 3GS on 3.0.1 JB firmware and I wanted to install the Yelp application but saw that it has an arbitrary restriction of only installing on 3.1 firmware. Since I don't want to upgrade to 3.1 for obvious reasons, and I'm sure the app does not use any specific feature of 3.1 that 3.0.1 does not have I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to install the app onto the phone in some way. Possibly by installing it manually through SSH access into the phone's file system or something like that which I am slightly familiar with. Any help is appreciated, thank you.

This worked for me in an older firmware. It should still work.
Use something like 7zip (other zip programs may work too) to unzip the ipa. Look for a folder called 'payload.' Inside that folder is the app folder. Inside the app folder there's an 'info.plist' file. Open it with a plist editor and look for the key: MinimumOSVersion. Just below that is a string. Change the string to your firmware. Save the plist. Zip all the files. Change the zip file extension to ipa and you're done. Resync
    .

Almost worked, unfortunately after installation it backs out and says the signature was not valid and doesn't place it on the phone.

Unplug your phone and download the app from iTunes w/out your phone plugged in.

I believe that was what I did if I catch your meaning. I downloaded the app on itunes and edited it before plugging the phone in. I then plugged in the phone and synced it, It shows that it is installing the app and after getting to the end of the status bar, itunes pops up a window saying the app was not installed because its signature was not valid. So I think I might be SOL on this one using itunes.

Is there a way to get an app on your phone manually like with WinSCP without syncing through itunes? I tried one way I found online by adding the .app to the applications folder and setting permissions, and while the icon is there on the springboard the program will not open.
