Thread: Ipod update?????

    Default Ipod update?????
I recently upgraded to the software version 3.1.1, can anyone confirm with me any problems when trying to jailbreak using this version. I've had several issues from my iPod touch 2G, from locking up, to resetting in restore mode after I've tried to jailbreak using redsnow 0.7.2. I'm not new to jail breaking so this is confusing me and really testing my patience. My only theory is that apple are being so mean with their toys that they donít want us to jailbreak them. And this latest upgrade is preventing us all from getting the benefits of using cydia or icy.

    Cheers,
    Aaron

Just be patient - JB for 3.1 is imminent (my bet)
    Check the Guides here regularly...

Alternatively u can downgrade to 3.0 in the mean time.

    To do this:
First u have to have itunes up and running. Download the firmware from e.g. this site here http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/ and save it somewhere u can find it. Make sure your ipod touch is plugged into the computer. Once your ipod touch is recognized and u have the firmware downloaded and saved where u want it to be, u have to put it into DFU mode. To do so just hold the power and home buttons for 10 seconds. your ipod should appear to shutoff. Now release the power button and keep holding the home button. After a while u should hear a sound like your ipod is being recognized. Now it should pop up in itunes. Hold shift and click restore, then locate the firmware u downloaded and hit open. U should be good to go. Your screen will turn white for a few seconds that means its working.

That's right, gang -- OS 3.1.1 for iPhone and iPod touch is alive and well and we're installing it as we speak! We're looking forward to digging into all those Genius mixes, syncing options and, most importantly, a reasonable way to manage apps. Stay tuned!
