I always feel sorry for the guy in the iPhone commercials. He always gets a call right in the middle of trying to do something

Navigon rocks! Just used it today to navigate to a place Id never been in a city ive only been past on the interstate. Worked like a charm. Interface is nicer than on my older Garmin Nuvi 350, and as nice as on my newer 275T.

Maybe where I live has really terrible satellite signal, but I have tried this on two differnt 16gb 3g iphones and it has the same problem of GPS reception is not currently sufficient. Even worse is that it can be random, works fine doing a trip one day, next day picks up the signal after 5 minutes, looses it after 12 minutes and doesn't get it back again even when I arrive at destination after 25 minutes.

Also when it does work it's as paranoid as hell, keeps telling me to "Beware" all the time while I'm driving - as if it expects a demented Yeti is going to leap out of someone's front garden and rip the doors off my people carrier - in darkest Yorkshire.

hey guys i read the info for the app and its say that you don't need internet connection. So is it like Google maps where its just the map of the place you want to go and it shows you, or does it actually do turn by turn and tells you go left or right like an actually GPS with voice. If so, how? Alos is it worth the price $69.99

    Thxx

Yes, turn by turn with voice prompts. Truly an A+ plus app.

The "beware" means you're going too fast. Slow down buddy.

The GPS on an iPhone isn't the most reliable thing in the world but it should work fine.

^ speed warnings can be disabled. I drove to Tucson this morning and even through minimal reception areas this app continued to work flawlessly. Just sayin'

If no internet connection is needed why does it say "GPS reception is currently not sufficient"?

It works pretty good overall for me but it cuts out and I get this while in route, kind of defeats the purpose.

Is something obstructing your signal? Are you driving in a tunnel?

    Some cars obstruct signal too.

I haven't figured out how to search for a PLACE instead of an address. For example if I want to go to Best Buy but I don't have the address... how do I do this? It's not a POI so this doesn't work.

Aaahh, makes more sense then it worrying about me being butt f***ed by psychotic Yeti's. I don't drive too fast, it's just they set the speed limits too low round where I live, most of the time the only thing I might actually hit is a sheep that has strayed off the moors, dry stone walls and empty fields for miles......

As for the GPS signal pick up, as I pointed out near the start of this thread it couldn't pick up GPS when I was WALKING for twenty from a friends party to home - no car blocking signals, no tunnel, clear sky. Plus when it can't get GPS signal both XGPS and the stock map app can find my location no problem. So the GPS on the iphone is not the problem, Navigon seems to be fussy about GPS signal Quality - probably to be dead on precise. However I would rather be pictured 100 yards to the right of the road I am on, rather then not pictured at all! They really need to update the app to be more tolerant of the signal strength because this issue really ruins it for me, you can buy a stand alone sat nav unit for what they are charging for this app.

I did a Maps search, copied and pasted the address in NAVIGON. Worked well, but yes a few more steps, but I love pressing buttons, oh my..................O_o
