Thread: SMS/MMS app for 3G iPad

Default SMS/MMS app for 3G iPad
Since the 3G iPad has an assigned cellular number, it should be able to send and receive MMS messages or at the very least SMS messages (text messages).

This might be a nice app for some enterprising developer to come up with. Wish I had the knowledge to write such an app for Cydia.

The developers of BiteSMS are looking into updating their program to work natively on iPad.

It seems to me this primarily depends on implementing code to interact with the baseband directly, since most of the iPhone SMS programs just piggybacked on the iPad-incompatible Messages app.
Then there's the potential that Apple disables the baseband commands that SMS/MMS use in the iOS4 update, making these programs moot.

Don't forget, these programs would probably require one to have a [Micro]SIM and cellular plan that is allowed to do SMS/MMS, which iPad's data-only SIMs aren't allowed to do (AT&T disables messaging and non-emergency calling upon MicroSIM activation).
