Thread: Installer Apps as .ipa's?

  1. #1
    Default Installer Apps as .ipa's?
I heard that if u install an app store application and you update to another firmware, you keep the application.
However, any application installed from Installer would be deleted.
This bugs me a lot. Would it be possible to package an application from Installer ( as an ipa that we can sync with itunes and therefore will not be deleted after an update?

    Just an idea i had.

there is one big problem with that.
app store apps run in a virtual world, the sandbox. Installer/Cydia apps run in the real world, no sandbox limits.
if you took an Installer app added the .ipa structure, and installed it as if it was a store bought app, it would not run.

we need a different mechanism for keeping Cydia/Installer apps between installs. something better than paper notes or worse yet trying to remember! -- with free itunes under the puppy!
If I help you out, please press THANKS!
