Sorry I was gone last night

Open redsn0w and browse to the stock 4.3.3 ipsw. Then select the DFU mode option only and nothing else. Follow on-screen timer to set your phone to pwned DFU.

When you're done doing that, open iTunes and try your shift+restore to the custom 4.1 firmware.

    No sorries its all good.

Ok, first step with redsnow done. Processing the 4.1 firmware now. Should take a few minutes. I assume I'll get error 1015. What then?

EDIT: TU still shows nothing. Recboot wont kick it out either. Keep getting the same messages as yesterday. Ugh.

So with a custom 4.1 you still got error 1015? Because you shouldn't have.

  7. #106
Sadly, yes, I did lol At this point, im about to fold. Can 4.3.5 be jailbroken? I believe it can but its just tethered, right? If thats the case, ill do that. Its been 4 days im trying to do this and Im about to turn my iphone into a charred piece of firestarting material lol

I'm not sure 4.3.5 can be jailbroken. 4.3.4 yes but I don't know about 4.3.5. Anyhow I just saw yet another person succeed, I don't know why your phone won't do it.

Somebody restored to custom 4.1 without TinyUmbrella and got error 1015 and successfully exited recovery with TU as well. I don't know why the same steps don't work for you. For some reason TU just doesn't want to recognize your device.

Have you tried any of this on another computer??

That is certainly bizarre then. Ugh. Oh well. I mean, I can keep trying and hope for the best but at some point, ya gotta give up.

I havent tried it on another computer as yet. The house PC is between power supplies at the moment, so I cant try that. Im not sure if it would be worth trying at work .. what with the firewalls and extra security and stuff.

I suppose I'll just wait for now and then, when I fix the PC, try it on that. Maybe it IS the laptop thats being all stupid.

Yeah sometimes certain computers don't work right. Like back when I had a Windows laptop I couldn't for the life of me get sn0wbreeze to work on it right. So I never used it. Then now when I load up sn0wbreeze on my Mac with Windows, it works just fine. Or when I try using GP on my desktop it doesn't work but works on the laptop lol. It's so weird.

Yeah. I think I"ll just leave it for now and hope for a JB for 4.3.5. Until then .. I'll be a commoner :P

    Ah well.

Thank you SO much for your help, though. Im sorry that I got you all stumped. I say blame the device :P

EDIT: So I attempted to jailbreak 4.3.5 using this website: h**p://www.jailbreaknation.com/jailbreak-ios-4.3.5-redsn0w-iphone-43gs-ipad-and-ipod-touch-4g3g.

It worked. Went all through the process, rebooted, and I have a Cydia icon on the 2nd page of my springboard. Awesome right? Turns out .. not. If I click on either Safari or Cydia, they open for a split second and then close again.

Im about to consider the fact that this is never going to happen.

Yeah that's likely a tethered jb as is on 4.3.4. You can expect that since there isn't really an "official" release of an untethered or even tethered version that it is buggy. Restoring and redoing it *might* fix it but you'll probably end up finding yet another bug. That's just the case when the devs aren't going to fully work on these last two firmware versions just bc they are so useless.

    theres a tethered jb for 4.3.5 with redsn0w 0.9.8b4

Right, there are tethered jb for 4.3.4 and 4.3.5 but they are both extremely buggy because there isn't really a jb out that has officially been deemed completely usable just bc these last two fw updates are pretty much not worth working on.

Ah it'll be over soon. iOS 5 will be a blast, and having an official untethered jb on that will be a bigger blast

  21. #118
I generally dont ask such questions because the answer if typically "when it happens, it happens." BUT, when is iOS5 supposed to come out? and generally, how long does it take for an offical jb to come? Ive seen everything from 5 hours to a week or so.

EDIT: OMG OMG OMG. Forget that above. I got it. I freaking got it. Im at 4.1. Im at 4.1 Its not in recovery. Im at 4.1.
Sorry. Im excited :P *dancing a happy dance*

Lol that's awesome. What did you do?

  23. #120
I have no idea lol It just ... worked. I cant explain it nor will I question it.

EDIT: nevermind. Its already JB'ed. Im an idiot lol

One question tho ... right now, its activated but I dont have data from my sim card (ie. contact list). Is there any way to get that back now?
