Thread: unlocking a 3gs

  1. #1
    Default unlocking a 3gs
im going to have a go at locking a 3gs later
i did a normal 3g one last night, took a while but it went ok
this 3gs one is on 4.3
not sure what baseband its on until i see it
can i unlock it with the firmware its on, or should i downgrade it to say 4.1 and use a custom fimware

The firmware doesnt matter you have to be on a low enough baseband. So what baseband is the phone on?
If its hight 5.14 then you will have to install the ipad 6.15 to unlock which and return you will be stuck on that bb forever, you will void warranty if you have warranty on the device, and will more likely lose gps.

    its on 5.16.1
    so i guess 6.15
ive just got 2 phones off my mate a 3g that had 6.15 on it, girlfriends got that, shes not bothered about gps
this one for me is 3gs. i would like to keep gps if i can
is there a way that i can get o2 to unlock it, then jailbreak. if so will it keep baseband

I've helped a guy who actually got his iphone unlocked by O2. Give it a shot and ask them to see if they'll do it.

You won't be needing to preserve the baseband if O2 is going to unlock it for you. It's permanently unlocked if done through a carrier, regardless of what baseband.

Can you explain who/what O2 is?

I need to unlock a 3G with 4.15.04/5.15.04 without the IPad Baseband.

O2 is a carrier in the uk
