Default my 3gs will not go pass the apple screen
lately i've been having wireless issues not detecting anything. so i decided to try resetting the network settings. and after doing so, the phone went through its process, then rebooted but ended up getting stuck on the apple logo. i was currently ruuning firmware 3.1 jailbroken using blackrain. so what exactly are my options getting it restored to a firmware which would jailbreak and unlock so i could use my tmobile carrier. i tried upgrading to firmware 3.1.2 but apple will not allow it. is there any way around it. or am i screwed.? i just need my phone to work again. i dont recall shsh my phone. whatever that means. but i dont think i did. please help

No, you are not screwed you are good.
    Update Itunes to 10.
Put your iphone into recovery mode.
Download Snowbreeze 2.0.2 and download 3gs 4.1 ipsw
Build your custom firmware, use simple mode and it will be placed on your desktop.
Now do the Shift + Restore to Snowbreeze_4.1_.ipsw
Once restored you are jailbroken at ios 4.1
    Unlock again with Ultrasn0w.

Don't worry about shsh blogs, as long as you stay with Custom firmware, it is not required because you have the old bootrom. Congrats and remember to hit thanks button to show your appreciation.

Always put your iphone into recovery mode : turn it off, while holding the home button, plug in your iphone until Itunes cable logo appears.
Download snowbreeze from here : iH8sn0w.com | Jailbreak your iPod touches and iPhones

Yes, i am using the same method on my iphone and is great.

All future restore, use custom firmware, not everyone has this ability to use custom firmwae. As long as you stay away from restoring to stock firmware, you can always restore to custom firmware.

Not as simple as Blackra1n, but building your custom ipsw is a stand alone thing, so it is real easy. Any problems, PM me and I will assist you.

Update Itunes to the latest and No , do not restore to the stock firmware 4.1 or you will be screwed.
When you build your custom firmware, it will be named Snowbreeze_4.1.ipsw on your Desktop.
    Put iphone inot recovery mode
Do the Shift + Restore to Snowbreeze_4.1.ipsw.
Get it, just follow exactly, and nothing will go wrong.

The Stock 4.1 ipsw is for you to build your custom firmeare.

You can do it now, I will see your progress here.

Just be sure not to shift+restore to the 4.1 stock ipsw and restore to your custom fw created by Sn0wbreeze

It doesn't matter what sim card is in, it will activate by default.

Wouldn't it be safer to use the 4.0.0 firmware on a custom firmware basis instead of 4.1? I know that sn0wbreeze 2.01 is out and some people have successfully done it ... but I have also read about a lot of people experiencing so much problems with it as well.

If you are using 4.0.0 firmware, at least you'll know that it won;t be that bad if something got screwed in the process.

    Just my 2 cents.

No, your iphone does not have to be plug in to create the CFW.

    Check activate it.
