Default Iphone stuck need to downgrade
Hi. I am a newbe to this.

My Iphone 3gs could not be recognised by Itunes. Giving me a message saying "Itunes cant read contents of Iphone go to restore ect"
So I jailbreaked with spirit so I could copy my data via open ssh, all good.

My ssh is now on cydia but it says that I am on version 4.1, but on my phone it says I'm on version 3.1.3. Which one am I on. I want to restore my phone via itunes, jailbreak again put my data back, make a back up with itunes, restore again and have a non jailbroken phone. Hope I am making sense. But I have read there is no jailbreak for ios 4. Is this true. And why does my phone say I'm on 3.1.3 but cydia says my ssh is 4.1. If i download a 3.1.3 and use recboot will apple see that and my phone will be ok. And one more point how do I get my ssh back from cydia.

Once again I'm a newbe to all this so sorry for all the questions, any help would be great.

First off, you can only get SHSH files for the current version of firmware which apple is signing. Hence you can get 4.1 but nothing else.

You're problem now is that you only have SHSH files on store for 4.1 and you need to restore. Well, there's only one chance at present and that is that you are on old bootrom:

How to Check iPhone 3GS New Bootrom / Old Bootrom (iBoot) Version | Redmond Pie

If it's new bootrom, then I think you're out of luck unlock a new JB comes for 4.1.

If it's old bootrom, then you should be able to install spirit2pwn from woowiz repo and then use custom firmware to go to whichever firmware version you want (4.1 I guess since it's the latest). Custom firmware does not require SHSH files and won't update your baseband so you could still unlock too if you need to.

If you see Cydia, you are still at 3.1.3 , so you are still jailbroken. If you are stuck , you can only restore to stock 4.1 since you don't have any other shsh blogs lower than 4.1. Do not confuse yourself with shsh blogs and ssh. There is no jailbreak at 4.1 yet unless you are able to use Custom Firmware which means you must have the old bootrom in order to do that.

Hi. Cheers for both your replies. Ok checked the oldboot file and it's [iBoot-359.3]. So thats good news then. So now I can restore via Itunes. Do I need to download version 3.1.3. and where can I get that. After I've restored I can then put 3.1.3 back on my iphone get spirit and cydia again and put my data back via ssh, then do an itunes backup....

    Ok do this first :
    http://modmyi.com/forums/general/730...ie-please.html
and check all shsh from 3.1.3 all the way to 4.0.1 and let me know.

You mentioned that Itunes cannot read the content of your iphone , right?

Ssh into your iphone and go to this :
/private/var/mobile/Media/iTunes_Control/iTunes/iTunesDB” database file and delete iTunesDB and restart your iphone. It will save you for another restore.

I down loaded umbrella the other day on xp not my mac as I coul'nt find a version for 10.4.11, it saw my phone ok I was trying to save my shsh, but I couldn;t for the life of me work out what I had on port 80 so couldn't connect. With the second thing you mentioned will that delete any of my phone data, or is it just like a pref and will re establish itself when I restart my phone without any loss....Thanks for your patience.

As to the deletion of the database, I am not quite sure because I haven't done it, to be on the safe side, back it up onto your pc, so you can always restore it back if you loses your photos.

Edit : In my ItunesDb, it has nothing in there. so you want to ssh into it with WinSCP and find out if there is any bytes on that file.

I Just ran umbrella and its says that my phone is connected version 3.1.3. In the advance tab under request version It goes (for 3gs) from 3.0 all the way to 4.1. (does that mean I can load any of those firmwares). But I still can't start TSS server it is greyed out, it;s the port 80 thing. One last thing in umbrella I hit save shsh it runs for a few seconds then says that shsh have been cache'd. Where are they?

the SHSH should be in the c:/Documents and Settings/Userx/.shsh folder. If you still can't find it, just do a search for files with .shsh extension.

It is a hidden folder , click Desktop > User Computer Name > .shsh

Port 80 is greyed out, then you have something running on port 80.

    1. Disable Firewall
    2. Exit (and I mean exit, not just pressing the x button) Skype, Yahoo Messenger, IMs etc etc etc. They have been known to use port 80
    3. Disable the proxy server (where I live, the port 80 is used by a proxy server)

    Run Tiny Umbrella as administrator.

If it's still greyed out ... I'm stump.

You need a computer specialist to troubleshoot for you. I am also stumped.

    Phone up Geek Squad...LOL

Yes, since you have all the shsh blogs, you can restore to those firmware but remember Baseband cannot be downgraded.

Ok. really cool for the replies. So final thing all I need to do is find what is on port 80, ( i've tried everything but will get there) save my shsh local with umbrella and with cydia (it says on my phone cydia that they have it ios 4.1) restore my phone, run umbrella again and request version 3.1.3. Jailbreak put my data back. Simple......

Cheers....will do but you throw me again, when you say baseband your talking about unlocking, which I don't want to do. So when I downgrade I'll still be on my normal phone company. Cheers Antony
