Exclamation Can Apple's Time Machine old backup for my 3GS help downgrade?
I've saved several old backups of my iphone within Time Machine, from before 4.0. But I am guessing Time Machine does not save firmware, does it? And if it does, I am guessing now that since Apple has made these changes, that it is unusable. Anyone know if there is a sure-fire way to downgrade using that old backup?

Yes, I have the 3GS with old bootrom, upgraded to 4.0.2 firmware.

    Thank you for any direction.

No use. An iPhone backup is not the same as a restore of firmware.

I take it you've checked for SHSH files with tinyumbrella already?

Yep. I have, re umbrella. Guess I'm stuck waiting for the iphone dev team's work-a-round for 4.1, which I have avoided upgrading to.

I have a fairly good idea about the difference between firmware and the iOS software. Seemed like there still might have been a small, tiny chance the firmware was included in the Time Machine backup. I mean, after all, we're downloading the necessary, validated firmware to our iPhones, right?

I hate this. Hope we get a fix soon. Thank you for the response.
