Default help jailbreaking 3gs - a real brainfu***
    hey everybody
So now I have a question: will this work?: I have a locked and not jailbroken 3gs that has 4.0.2 on it... now I want to downgrade it to 3.x whatever is easily jailbroken, install cydia, then make a backup file and upgrade to 4.0.1... then recover with the ipsw that i have saved before.. will this work? is there any other way for me to unlock this phone?? that is my final goal : to unlock the phone as this is an american phone locked to at/t and now it is in canada... I simply want to get ultrasn0w on it .. cydia and stuff...any help is greatly appreciated!!

You cannot downgrade without shsh blogs from <= 4.0.1 because it was not jailbroken before. Therefore, you cannot unlock your iphone. Now that you are at 4.0.2, you have to wait for a new jailbreak.

As of 9:44pm est time on 8/14/10 apple is still signing 4.0.1. So you can shift+click restore to it even without shsh's on file.
