Default 3gs with custom 4.0 stuck in recovery mode loop
    Hi all,

I've been Jailbreaking and unlocking since my original iphone and then 1.0 days.

I've currently got my 3GS stuck in a recovery mode loop. I have my custom SHSH blobs on file going back to 3.1

It had custom 4.0 on it made with pwnage tool and I've tried everything but cannot get it out of the loop.

I've tried everything including restoring to custom 3.1 with my SHSH blobs on cydia server. It never actually fails, but just hangs during restore. I did get a couple of 16xx errors, but have tried so much since then I'm not even sure if they are still relevant.

Below is a printout of my iRecovery log.

Please help me! I have so much faith in the Jailbreak community and cannot possibly give up on my beloved 3GS. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Oh eyah, the only command that seems to do anything in iRecovery is "reboot"

You should be jailbroken prior to using cfw. You cannot use cfw on new bootrom.

    Thanks for your reply..

I thought I'd add a few things just to help clarify my situation.

My 3GS has the old bootrom and I'm on a Mac OS 10.6.4 with iTunes 9.2.1

I have tried downgrading to various firmware going back to 3.1. I have tried restoring to these versions using the official IPSW as well as those same versions run through pwnage tool. When attempting a downgrade I point my hosts file to saurik's ECID server.

My iPhone is factory unlocked and have no problem upgrading to the latest apple official firmware but I can't even do that.

I've tried upgrading to 4.0.1, I've tried restoring to official 4.0 as well as pwnage 4.0

Any time I try do any kind of restore the process hangs at different points. It never actually fails except for a couple of times where i got iTunes 16XX errors.

I've used iRecovery but nothing seems to get it out of this recovery mode loop.

At this point I just want to restore and am not concerned about future jailbreak prospects.

Is the fact that I'm on iTunes 9.2.1 holding me up somehow? Do i need to downgrade my iTunes. Remember I just want to restore even if that means going to latest official apple firmware. Surely iTunes 9.2.1 isn't the problem here

Here is another printout from iRecovery:
