I was looking at this thread earlier and people could not find SnowBreeze 1.5.2 so I found it and thought I would post it to try and help

    sn0wbreeze-V1.5.2.exe

Fantastic... now my iPhone is stuck in the DFU mode... I put it in DFU as instructed by Sn0wbreeze and then nothing... it just says it is finished... and the phone is still sitting in DFU... and iTunes reads it... and says it can't do anything with it.

Any suggestions would be wonderful at this point... I am just trying to put 3.1.3 back on the phone... the idiot I got it from had upgraded a 3G iPhone to iOS 4.0 the day it came out. Duh?!

    1) download the iOS 4 ipsw (get it in the downloads section here on MMi)
    2) plug phone in and let iTunes detect it's in DFU mode
    3) cancel request to restore
    4) either upgrade to 4.0.1 or shift+restore to the CLEAN iOS 4 ipsw you downloaded. Do not use a custom fw created by sn0wbreeze.
    5) after restore is complete, download redsn0w 0.9.5b5-5
    6) use redsn0w; when prompted to selected firmware, select the iOS 4 ipsw you used to restore with (if you chose to upgrade to 4.0.1, you will still use the 4.0 ipsw I said to download in step 1)
    7) select when prompted "cydia" and whatever you want (if you want wallpaper or multitask) but disabling those will reduce lag. Do not select "already pwned".
    8) follow the on screen prompts, let redsn0w and iPhone finish up. When complete you should be jailbroken.

Note: if you want to still go to 3.1.3, follow all the steps above except you will need to download ipsw 3.1.2 and 3.1.3. You will need both for restore and jailbreak with redsn0w. Redsn0w will want the 3.1.2 ipsw if you choose to restore to 3.1.3.

Will downloading both firmware versions eliminate the restore loop?

Are you trying to downgrade from jailbroken 3G at iOS 4.0 to a jailbroken 3.1.3. If you are, then create a custom firmware of 3.1.3, put your Iphone into DFU and do the Shift + restore.

If you want Snowbreeze 1.5.2 to create a custom 3.1.3 ipsw, I have a copy on my laptop. PM me with email, I can send it to you.

So is it really that simple because every other thread people are having nothing but problems.
I would like to downgrade my iPhone 3G from a jb 4.0 back to a jb 3.1.3 unlocked.

on a 3G just go ahead and shift+restore to a stock 3.1.3 ipsw. Get error 1015 is good, kick it out of recovery mode with tinyumbrella or recboot.

Afterwards run redsn0w 0.9.4 (be sure to have the 3.1.2 ipsw also for this part only) then jailbreak it. Simple

unlock via Ultrasn0w from Cydia. No repo adding necessary, it's already in there.

Edit: make sure you get redsn0w 0.9.4 not the new 0.9.5b ones. Also, be sure if you're going to 3.1.3 to have the 3.1.2 ipsw ready for redsn0w. It won't read the 3.1.3 ipsw.

If you follow all the steps I listed you will have a restored, then jailbroken phone.

You didnt use Blackra1n with 3.1.3 cuz it only works on 3.1.2.

Download 3.1.3 and 3.1.2 ipsw, download TinyUmbrella or Recboot. Download Redsn0w 0.9.4 (0.9.3 if you wanna be on 3.1.2)

When thats done, in iTunes shift+restore to the 3.1.3 ipsw (or 3.1.2 works too your choice, if you wanna be on 3.1.2 you dont need the 3.1.3 ipsw).

    Get error 1015.

Open TinyUmbrella or Recboot and kick your phone out of recovery mode.

Open Redsn0w when phone reboots and shows the iTunes+USB screen. Run redsn0w with 3.1.2 ipsw (never the 3.1.3 ipsw) and follow the steps.

    All done jailbreaking.

Oh my... Ok you're just confusing yourself. It's simple: you're restoring to 3.1.3 but Redsn0w doesn't read the 3.1.3 ipsw. It only recognizes the 3.1.2 ipsw HOWEVER you can be on 3.1.3, you just have to point to the 3.1.2 ipsw in Redsn0w to jailbreak. It has nothing to do with the restore process. You use Redsn0w after restoring, correct? That means you've successfully restored to 3.1.3.

Redsn0w is simply jailbreaking your 3.1.3 device, it just needs the 3.1.2 ipsw to do it. You're not going to 3.1.2, you're just using the 3.1.2 ipsw so that Redsn0w can proceed to jailbreak.

This all worked for me except when I try to restore using 3.1.3, it says my back-up is from a newer version and the version i'm running is too old. It then prompts me to upgrade to 4.0.1, but I did not. Is there other way around this to restore the phone? Thanks

You should be setting your phone up as new. Dont restore from back up.

Do the entire process that I gave, then afterwards when iTunes is able to recognize your device and asks you to either restore from back up or set phone up as new you should select setting it up as new. You will lose your games progresses, contacts, etc. but restoring from back up isnt always good for the phone

Okay so I get all the way to the step in redsnow where it says "waiting for reboot" and the phone reboots, but redsnow does nothing... any ideas?
