Thread: iPhone with 3.1.2 blackra1n in recovery mode from Spirit Jailbreak

  1. #1
Default iPhone with 3.1.2 blackra1n in recovery mode from Spirit Jailbreak
I have a redsn0w/blackra1n jailbreaked and unlocked 3GS on firmware 3.1.2 with the new bootrom and I made the mistake to try SpiritJb and the device rebooted in recovery mode. Now it is impossible to get out of recovery mode! What should I do?

I have pressed the "Make my life easier" button in Cydia and I have always had the message that my SHSH blobs are backed-up on Cydia. I have therefore tried to restore my device to 3.1.2 in DFU-mode and I've changed the host file to:
    74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
It still doesn't work! My logs for iTunes show the following:

I've tried everything to get my iPhone going, nothing works! How can I get it going again?

My iPhone had 3.1.2 out of the box and has 05.11.07 baseband (new bootrom).

In a worst case scenario, could I upgrade to 3.1.3 and still unlock my phone? (Upgrade without upgrading the baseband 05.11.07)

either upgrade and you have an ipod touch or keep the brick hoping for a pwnagetool support for new bootroms?
    what would u do?

Even though I have my SHSH blobs with Cydia/Saurik? Is there some way to get hold of my SHSH blob from Cydia/Saurik and run it locally through TinyTSS?

  5. #4
I think FWUmbrella could dl from Saurik's Server, but I'm not sure..

I would double check your hosts file, then run a tracert to make sure its going to the right IP address.

Mind throwing up a pic of the HOSTS file?

@islamadel something is coming to fix the tethered spirit jb with a blackra1n'd device.

    @islamadel pwnagetool won't have a release. Stay on 3.1.2

I tried a new ip-adress to Saurik's server. Still the same error, is there anything else I should try?

ckislam: Does this mean we might be able to get our iPhones working if ih8sn0w releases a fix?

I have the same exact problem as the original poster.

My iPhone is a 3GS with 3.1.2 firmware and the new bootrom (iBoot-359.3.2). The device was originally simfree.

I've jailbroken the device successfully with blackra1n RC3, and then used the latest spirit jailbreak. Following reboot, the device went into recovery mode (showing apple), or - if I press the power+home buttons for a few seconds goes to the "connect to iTunes" logo. Trying to run blackra1n RC3 again returns it into recovery mode.

Can anyone tell me if there's anything I can do right now? How?
Is a solution for this issue expected to be released soon?

I apologize if the iH8sn0w link listed above was supposed to answer the question. I'm not sure I understood the answer from his twitter. (and being stressed out from my iPhone being locked probably didn't help as well )

Thanks in advance for you help guys and gals.

i am having the same problem with my iphone can someone please help us out!!

thanks for whatever advise you guys can give us

Update: with the setting I've stated back a couple of posts above, I was able to restore back to 3.1.2, and then apply the spirit jailbreak. For some reason, I wasn't able to re-sync my apps back to the iPhone. Perhaps it's related to the fact I don't have AppSync installed yet.

Anyway, to those with the same situation, with shsh keys on Cydia, make sure you follow Saurik's instructions exactly, and especially the part which states that for the restore to work you must be in DFU mode. If you see the Apple logo/connect to iTunes/any other logo you are NOT in DFU mode. In DFU mode the screen should be completely blank. Only then you can proceed to restore the firmware successfully.

halrod: What guide did you follow? Have you got a link for Saurik's instructions? I've tried loads of guides without sucess yet.

    Saurik's guide:
Caching Apple's Signature Server - Jay Freeman (saurik)

Get the images from here - make sure you choose the post matching your device as well as the required firmware:

.... same problem,(os 3.1.2), missed the "get rid of blackra1n before applying spirit" bit and now im stuck in recovery mode, but without 3.1.2.blobs, so no way to restore 3.1.2 via itunes.
Any success getting out of recovery mode? tried with iRecovery, no luck.
    thanks

Can you not restore to stock 3.1.3, since you don't have 3.1.2 Blogs
