Default Saving SHSH files on 3.1.3 downgrade to 3.1.2? Help!!
Hi ive just watched a video on youtube about auto saving your SHSH blob files via AutoSHSH - 3.1.3/3.2 [RC2] download from iH8snow.
It lets you download your SHSH files to your computer.
but what i want to know is if I save my SHSH files on 3.1.3 can I downgrade to 3.1.2? or do I need to save the files on 3.1.2 to downgrade??.

thank you every one that has helped.

This is all available info if you search.

You can only restore to the version you've saved SHSHs for. You can only save SHSH for the version that is currently being signed. It doesn't matter which firmware you're currently on yourself.

    No, you can't downgrade.

Iīm 3GS out of the box. I run umbrella on mac and got this results:

1.I added 127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com line to my host file
    2.Run Umbrella
3.Select Apple option and got "Saved File!" message & a 67kb file
    4.Select Saurik-Cydia and got "Saved File!" message & a 63kb file
5.Select Localhost option and got "cannot get shsh file for this device-model" message.

Is it enough with the two files I got?
    Did I do something wrong?
Was it unnecesary to change my host file to do this?
    Thanks

The files are firmware version specific meaning you need to have the files stored for the specific version you're trying to restore to. To have the 3.1.2 files stored, you'd need to have done it before February 3rd as this was the day Apple stopped signing it. If you've just recently gotten those files, they aren't usable for downgrading.

Though, it doesn't really matter much, there's no need to downgrade as a new jailbreak is being released very shortly.

damien: I donīt want to downgrade to 3.1.2 because I know that I canīt.
I saved my SHSH for 3.1.3. I tought doing shsh after jailbreaking, but someone told me that when Spirit is released maybe Apple will also release a new firmware and stop signing the actual one. In that case if something fails I canīt go back to 3.1.3.

But my question is really about how umbrella works
    I run umbrella three times.
I tried each three options; Apple/Saurik/Localhost, but tirth one failed.
Are my files saved now? Look at the picture.

Yes, your files are saved, both on your computer and on Cydia (hold onto the file, as it's always good to have a backup). The reason you get an error on the 3rd option is because you're asking for the file from a local server running on your own computer. As you aren't running this server, you get the error in Umbrella.

Umbrella comes bundled with a program called TinyTSS. You can use that to setup a local server. There's a readme.txt in the folder that explains how to use it.

Could you please tell me how it work before 3rd Feb. and not after !! These SHSH file (for 3.1.2), are they in your iPhone or in Apple's Sig. server? If these are in your iPhone, then when you Downgrade after 3rd Feb. should not matter as during the process iTunes does not refer Apple server...insted, it uses Cydia server isn't it?

Please advise if my understanding is correct.. many thanks!

The signatures are from Apple's server. Only Apple can give them, that's why you can only get them while Apple is still handing them out.

What Cydia stores is just a copy of the signature, but Cydia needs to see the copy before it can store it. So Cydia can also only store the files while they're being signed.

Hi Damian, many thanks for the clarification.!

I had a 3Gs (32GB) with 3.1.2 and got JBd using blackra1n (JB done on the month of Apr.) And as I can remember I"ve accept the Cydia's suggestion to store SHSH files during initial stage of the installation. But later I had some issues with the Cydia and as a result my iPhone got stuck.

I restored the phone with 3.1.3 (NO option as iTunes has offered only the 3.1.3 !!) and baseband got updated to 05.12.04. Now the phone functions are working. But I want to JB again.....

Could you please advise the easiest way of Jailbreaking the 3Gs (With downgreading from 3.1.3 to 3.1.2 or just JB with in 3.1.3)

And finally, if downgreaded to 3.1.2 can we use blackra1n for the JB?

    Please advise.

You can't downgrade to 3.1.2 or lower, but you don't need to either. You can jailbreak 3.1.3 with Spirit. You can find that at Spirit - in the future, if a new firmware is released and you accidentally upgrade, you can use the 3.1.3 SHSH that you have stored on Cydia to downgrade to that version again. This means that you're now secured a jailbreak indefinitely (or until Apple comes up with a new anti-downgrade mechanism).
