Thread: Restoring 3GS question

    Default Restoring 3GS question
I have a 3GS that is on 3.1.2 firmware on 04.26.08 baseband. In Cydia, it says the SHSHs stored is 3.1.3. My question is, is there anyway I can restore my 3GS while still being able to unlock? I thought of doing a custom firmware using pwnage tool where I'll be on 3.1.3 with the 04.26.08 baseband but I'm not sure if that will be unlockable. Can someone confirm?

Yes, since you have an old bootrom phone, you should always stick to custom firmwares since it'll preserve your baseband. It also has the additional advantage of not needing SHSH signing.

By making a 3.1.3 firmware with pwnagetool, you'll let your baseband version stay at 04.26.08 and you can unlock that with ultrasn0w.

Stay away from original firmwares at all costs as those will update your baseband to a version that isn't unlockable.
