    Question 3G[S] from 3.0.1 to 3.1.2?
    Hi there,

I have a 3G[S] with a serial number starting 88933T that is currently running version 3.0.1 with modem firmware 04.26.08.

A number of apps I want to run require version 3.1, but I don't want to lose my untethered jailbreak or my ability to unlock (although I have an ATT contract). I do have SHSHs on file with Cydia for 3.1, 3.1.2, and 3.1.3.

If I use PwnageTool to create a custom IPSW for 3.1.2 and restore to it, will I lose my untethered jailbreak?

    What should I do?

You will be untethered. Firmware doesn't determine whether you're tethered or not. The bootrom determines that. According to your serial you have a week 33 phone made in 2009. You're safe.

As you suggest yourself, you should use a custom firmware to get to 3.1.2. That way you'll preserve your baseband at 04.26.08 and you'll avoid the problems that some users experience with 05.11.07 and blacksn0w.
