Default 3gs 3.0.1 battery life issue after jailbreak
I am seeing huge difference in how quickly battery starts draining without any use after the jailbreak.

I have following packages installed on cydia. Lot of these were installed by default when i JB.

please tell me what could be the cause of this and what can i do to save on battery life.

I have sbsetttings insalled and have 3g,edge,ssh,wifi,bluetooth turned to OFF. brightness has been reduced.

Have you tried installing a custom 3.1 ipsw to have 3.1 jailbreak and set up as new phone?
