Uninstall what ever version of Java you have, and then re-install it from this link.

    Reboot, then try again.

After reboot, you can verify if it's been successfully installed by opening the command prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd.exe) and typing: java -version

It should respond something along the lines of:

    Code:
    java version "1.6.X_X"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.6.X_XX-bXX)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.6.X_XX-bXX, mixed mode, sharing)
(Where the X's can be any number)

    1) Find the path to Java, it will be C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.X_XX\bin

You need to find the correct path on your computer, it will be different to mine. If you are on Vista 64bit, it will be C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.6.X_XX\bin

Note: Obviously replace the X's with the real numbers from the directory!

    2) Start -> Right Click computer -> Properties
    3) Click Advanced System Settings
    4) In the box that pops up, click the Advanced tab, then Environment variables.
    5) Under where it says "User variables for (your username)" double click "PATH"
    6) For variable value, enter your path value (e.g. C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.X_XX\bin) and click OK, then OK again.

Now try java -version again at the command prompt, it should work!

Err, what exactly were you expecting to happen? That's doing exactly what it should be.

It's at that point you'd restore if you needed to. I'm assuming you don't right now, so just keep the 00.shsh safe until you do need to.

No. That is not the correct path!

    It will be C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.6.X_XX\bin (where X = a number)
At a guess, C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.6.0_16\bin - but check those are the correct numbers!

It is not C:\Program Files (x86)\Java

You need to find the full path to your bin folder... it's really not that hard.

hafa, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed, put the iPhone into DFU mode instead of recovery, and try again.

Double click Umbrella-GUI.jar and see if it loads, if it does, you're sorted.

If it doesn't, use: Getting your ECID SHSH ("Hard" Way) - that way will definitely work if you have Java working from the command line.

Yes it does recognize the cjava -version and i get java version 1.6.0_16 But i tried umbrella again and i get the same outcome. Nothing comes up when i click my ECID generate.......Ok this is what i have for folders

CUMB (i made this folder for myself)
CUMB i have a folder called LIB and a folder called SRC. I also have readme.txt, tinytss.exe, tinytss.jar, tinytss64.exe, umbrella.exe, umbrella.jar, umbrella64.exe and also umbrella-GUI.jar......All of that is inside the folder i made called UMB

Ok now inside UMB i have the LIB folder. Inside that folder i have 7 other files......

Am i missing something or is something in the wrong place...=-)

    OK when doing it the hard way, since i have it working a little.....When i do the line e.g. umbrella.exe -e 00000000AA00AA00 -v 3.1 -c 8920

Do i have to put my phones personal info behind the -e -v and -c or do i just need my ECID behind the -e.........That -v and -c confused me...

My phones on 3.0 right now...=-)

LMAO....Never mind, it did a crap load of stuff, but never gave me a file...DAMN

You are definitely missing something. There should be 8 files in the lib folder, not 7.

Re-download Umbrella, and Umbrella-GUI from the links on the first post.
Also, after you have clicked Generate, close the GUI, it speeds up the process.

    ---

I have just updated Umbrella-GUI to version 1.0.2, it now checks for the correct ECID length (just incase someone tries to enter an invalid one), and to tells you to close it after clicking generate due to this speeding up the process

How long does it normally take for it to show. I've had it closed and been waiting about 3mins now.....Correction i have 8 files in the LIB, not 7 as i originally stated...=-)

Usually about 10-40 seconds after closing the GUI, so there's something wrong.

Download the newest versions and try again. I'd also recommend logging off your computer and then back in again, in case some running Java process is hanging.

On Umbrella-GUI if you click Help -> About it should say Product Version 1.0.2, if it does you have the latest.

No, that's completely as it should be! If you have your 3.1 file then it's done what it's supposed to.

Unless you happen to have a 3.0/3.0.1 ECID SHSH on file with Cydia (if you do, it will tell you this at the top of the Web-Page when you start Cydia above where it says Welcome to Cydia) then you can't get your 3.0/3.0.1 SHSH.

So keep your 3.1 SHSH in a safe place because it means you'll be able to downgrade to it in the future if you need to

Ok, so even though my phone is 3.0 but i now i have the 3.1 SHSH, that means im still good to go (back to 3.1 atleast)...I have the 3.1 also on Cyndia (didnt get to 3.0 in time).......Basically all of this is just to insure i can go back to 3.1 if apple updates, i guess, LoL.....Anyways yeah it works on the 3.1 option, but not 3.0......How did it know i didnt have 3.0 cyndia, but it knew i had 3.1...=-)

Because the ECID SHSH files have been collected by Saurik (the maker of Cydia) if you allowed him to so that's how it knows what version has been collected by Cydia.

Very few people actually managed to get their 3.0 ECID SHSH files from Cydia - I was one of the lucky ones that actually did so can restore back to 3.0 if I ever need to

And yes, it's all to insure you can get back to 3.1 in your case.

Anyhow, i'm off to bed now, it's almost 1:30am and this will be the earliest i've got to bed in the last few days :P
