Thread: Confused!

    Question Confused!
I am so confused by all of this.

    I have a new 3GS phone running OS 3.0.1

I haven't jailbroken this one yet because i was on vacation broke my 3G came back purchased a 3GS that has 3.01 on it, and haven't jailbroken this new phone yet...

Now I have changed my HOST file to have 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com listed in it...

Can I currently jailbreak this phone?! Or do I have to wait for the 3.1 Jailbreak to come out?

I hope I can get a straight answers, I have read so many conflicting things all over the place.

Yes you can jailbreak 3.0.1. Your NOT restoring it. You should be fine if you use redsn0w

    Thank you for an answer.

so if I use redsn0w and follow those instructions directly I can just jailbreak my 3GS running 3.0.1?

I've jailbroken my 3G phone multiple times but this new information and everything is created a lot of confusion.

Yes you should be fine. JUST BE MINDFUL in what you do.

Well I got an error when trying to first restore to the 3.0FW that the redsn0w tells me to do.

Guess I have to wait for a 3.1 jailbreak now?

redsn0w doesn't tell you to restore to 3.0 (at least it didn't tell me to). you have to download the 3.0 ipsw file, and point redn0w at it during the jailbreak. It has worked flawlessly for me at least 5 or 6 times on my 3g[s] with 3.0.1.

here is the 3.0 firmware, direct from apple if you need it.
